PiYo by Chalene Johnson--Why I love it.
What is PiYo?
PiYo is AWESOME! It is a low impact functional strength workout that combines yoga with movement to create strong, lean muscles and burn fat and calories at the same time.
PiYo is exactly what my body needs.
I am NOT a yoga person. My body is NOT flexible. I have bones unlike those who can fold in half and touch their nose to the floor. I love a really good, sweaty workout. I like the "high" I feel after completing 45-60 minutes of heart pumping cardio. But my body was starting to hurt. The pain in my feet was beginning to impact how I felt hours and sometimes days later. Hobbling around at 43 years of age is not what I have in mind.
My body was screaming at me to try PiYo. So on June 30, 2014, I took my before pictures and began the 60 day "classic" program schedule.
Let me tell you, it was NOT easy. My balance and flexibility were challenged. And I was a sweaty mess--Sweat and Drench workouts are No JOKE! With 60 days of PiYo workouts and following the nutrition plan, I saw results!!! I lost 4.9 pounds and 9 inches. But more importantly, I FEEL GOOD!! I am gaining strength and flexibility while trimming and toning my body. My feet and heels do not hurt! And when I do cardio, I feel strong and have improved my endurance!
