Beachbody Coaching- Finding my Joy

Do you ever think to yourself that you have greater things in store for you? Do you ever get tired of doing what you have always done because it is comfortable and expected? That you have responsibilities so your wants need to wait but in the meantime, you are so unfulfilled and feel empty inside?? Yea, this is me too.

I have a decent job. It almost pays all the bills. It basically provides for my family. What it doesn't do is make my heart sing. Sure, there are moments of working with great kids, seeing progress in children who cannot express themselves well, and moments of feeling appreciated for what I do. But I no longer feel joy.

Some may think I need to suck it up. There are people who do not have jobs and I should feel grateful. Others may think I am going through a midlife crisis of sorts. While I thank God everyday for all of the gifts of my life, I do not think He wants me to settle. God created me with purpose, for a purpose, more purposes. I believe soul deep He wants me to help others--not only with their speech and language needs, but also to lead healthier, happier lives. That is where Beachbody Coaching comes in. God would not have brought this opportunity into my life and lit such a deep pilot light to ignite my soul, if He wanted me to ignore it or not believe that I have what it takes to be successful at it. I feel joy when I am coaching!

I LOVE running challenge groups to help others reach their health and fitness goals. It EXCITES me to see their progress. I am Grateful for the trust my clients place in me. Their progress helps me stay accountable to my own health and fitness goals. Being a product of the product is important but allowing my clients to see struggles in my journey makes me relatable. We all have ups and downs. Owning the roller coaster of life helps build relationships of trust. The foundation of my Beachbody business is of serving others and building relationships with them.

My Story


I have always been a happier person when I exercised but I am NOT a “go to the gym” kind of person. I am a homebody!! Are there any other homebodies out there?? So, you can imagine how elated I was to discover the world of home workout programs. I started my journey with Gilad many moons ago. Oh yes, the decathlete who filmed his workouts on the beaches of Hawaii was one of my first VCR (Yes, VCR) purchases. After that, I took on The FIRM. Oh, I would go through periods of time when I was doing great and getting my exercise in but that darn wagon I would fall off of would run me over!! Anyone else with wagon wheel tracks on their back? This went on for years! After the birth of my second child, I joined Weight Watchers, started running, and lost A LOT of weight. I was well below my goal weight and did not look good. But my husband at that time was happy and I knew he did not want to be married to a fat wife because he told me-- so I kept on keeping on!! Well, 18 months after I had lost all of that weight, I found myself divorced and gaining back the weight I had lost. I know this is not a new story but it is mine. 
Fast forward 10 years and you will find my at home workout library to consist of Insanity, P90X3, TurboFire, PiYo, 21 Day Fix and the list goes on. I found my soul-mate workouts through Beachbody products. What I did not know when I ordered Insanity through an infomercial is I now have a SUPPORT SYSTEM through Team Beachbody. I logged into my Team Beachbody account and found a COACH—actually, a mother daughter duo! I joined one of their free accountability and support groups and FELL IN LOVE! I still struggle with my weight at times. But when I PLUG IN to the online support with like-minded people, those struggles are so much easier to tackle! I have a group of cheerleaders who believe in me and tell me they know I can do ANYTHING I set my mind to!

Are you unhappy with where you are—physically, emotionally, financially? Do you feel more fulfilled and empowered when you are focusing on others and helping them reach their potential? HEEELLLOOO!

Oh my goodness, it has been awhile!!! 

I had such good intentions of writing consistently and, well, obviously, I failed miserably. However, I am proud to say I continued my journey of exercising and eating nutritious food consistently and have begun building a TEAM of like minded people! Coaching has opened me up to be more vulnerable and in doing so I have been able to HELP more people with there wellness journey.   

I feel I would be remiss in updating my latest after pictures since I have been working so hard. Since PiYo, I have done P90, TurboFire, Combat, and more PiYo (no specific calendars--just what I felt like that particular day) as well as completed a full round of Insanity Max 30! I am currently in week 2 of Body Beast and cannot wait to add more muscle definition. So here is me now:

     
I do not post pictures to brag as there are many who look far more fit than me. I post them so you recognize that health and fitness is a personal journey. There is no right or wrong body type. YOU are PERFECTLY crafted and BEAUTIFULLY formed. Be YOU and Be HAPPY with who you are wherever you are on YOUR journey!

PiYo by Chalene Johnson--Why I love it.


What is PiYo?

PiYo is AWESOME! It is a low impact functional strength workout that combines yoga with movement to create strong, lean muscles and burn fat and calories at the same time. 

 PiYo is exactly what my body needs.      

I am NOT a yoga person. My body is NOT flexible. I have bones unlike those who can fold in half and touch their nose to the floor. I love a really good, sweaty workout. I like the "high" I feel after completing 45-60 minutes of heart pumping cardio. But my body was starting to hurt. The pain in my feet was beginning to impact how I felt hours and sometimes days later. Hobbling around at 43 years of age is not what I have in mind. 

My body was screaming at me to try PiYo. So on June 30, 2014, I took my before pictures and began the 60 day "classic" program schedule.  





Let me tell you, it was NOT easy. My balance and flexibility were challenged. And I was a sweaty mess--Sweat and Drench workouts are No JOKE! With 60 days of PiYo workouts and following the nutrition plan, I saw results!!! I lost 4.9 pounds and 9 inches. But more importantly, I FEEL GOOD!! I am gaining strength and flexibility while trimming and toning my body.  My feet and heels do not hurt!  And when I do cardio, I feel strong  and have improved my endurance!



I have just started the "Strength" calendar, look forward to trying the "slides", and cannot wait to see my next set of after pictures. I encourage you to try PiYo for yourself.  I promise, you will not be disappointed. I have provided the links below for you to try PiYo!

Are you a planner?

As I sit here contemplating sleep, my mind is planning for tomorrow.  This seems to be a nightly ritual.  Here is what I know already:

* I will complete my PiYo Drench workout.
* I will eat scrambled eggs with ham for breakfast.
* I will drink Chocolate Shakeology for my late morning snack.
* I will take my mom out for a late lunch for her birthday. Which means I will plan a somewhat healthy choice knowing it will probably be my main meal for the day followed either by leftovers or salad later for dinner.
* I will meal prep this weekend.
* I will get some gardening/weeding done.

Do you plan ahead? I find I stick to my exercise routine and eat clean if I do.  It helps to remember my reasons too.  Such as: Why do I exercise? Why do I need to eat clean? Why should I only allow a small "cheat" here and there?  If I keep my objectives in perspective, I move in a positive direction and make choices that align with my ultimate goal.  Therefore, I PLAN to be successful!

Kids Do What They See

My son WANTS to workout with me?? AND he asks me for advise on correct FORM when using weights?? I LOVE IT!

Seriously, how awesome is it when your kids model you?!?!  That is when you are doing POSITIVE things.  The past two days Luke has asked what my workout of the day is and if he can join me.  He does PiYo with me.  I am so proud of him!!  I am proud of ME too!!  I actually inspire my 12 year old son.  He looks at me and thinks I am fit.  My daughter poked my arm the other night and began laughing.  I asked her, "What is so funny?"  She said, "I thought it (arm) would be fluffy but it is hard like a guy's arm!"  I laughed so hard.  My kids see me as "too buff".   They are awesome!

Now, here is my job:
*I need to see myself through my kids' eyes.
*I need my daughter to know she is beautiful inside and out.
*I need to teach my son to respect ALL women--no matter their size and shape.
*I need to love myself for who I am now--despite my size and shape.
*I need to ensure my children are fit and healthy in body, mind, and spirit.
*I need to teach them "real life" perceptions --not media or others' perspectives/perceptions of beauty/health/fitness.    

The fact that my children ask and want to workout with me shows me I am doing my job!!
